More than $50,000 has been raised by friends and loved ones following the death of Bristow native Christian Brixius, who is scheduled to be buried this week following his unexpected passing in Prince William County.
Brixius, who attended Patriot High School," was described by his family as "a bright and kind-hearted teen who tragically passed away."
"As Christian’s family navigates through this incredibly difficult time, they are also faced with the unexpected burden of funeral and memorial service expenses," organizers of a GoFundMe campaign posted. "We want to help ease that burden so they can focus on healing and remembering Christian."
Visiting hours for the 14-year-old were set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pierce Funeral Home on Center Street in Manassas, followed by a funeral mass at All Saints Catholic Church on Stonewall Road the following morning at 10 a.m. in Manassas.
A reception is to follow, and the family requested that funeral-goers wear blue to honor the teen. A burial is scheduled for Saturday morning in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
"However, as the family continues to cope with their loss, there are still financial burdens they face beyond these initial expenses," Adam Maglich said. "We will continue collecting donations to help provide them with some financial breathing room, offering relief as they begin to heal."
Those interested in donating to the family can do so here.
"We appreciate the love, support, and donations during this difficult time. Christian's memory will live on through the kindness and generosity of those who loved him."
